Everything Under the Sun

Life is meaningless without God.

If you have fame, wealth, everything you could dream of having, it'll never be good enough.

As humans we'll live our whole life chasing dreams.

Those dreams will always turn out differently than expected.

Close to always they'll be let us down.

Once we get what we want, we'll want more.

But...

If you have God to focus on, it'll be worth it.

You'll live not for earthly pleasure, but eternal joy.

You'll want the will of God to be done, not your dreams.

You'll be content.

Of course we are humans and will fall short, and use our knowledge to make decisions without first going to God who bears abundant amounts of wisdom.

Solomon figured this out, and he had it all.

He was king, the wisest man on earth, raked in over 20 tons of gold each year, and lived in a stunning palace.

And what did he say about it all?

"Everything is meaningless," says the teacher, "completely meaningless!"

Ecclesiastes 1:2

Nothing under the sun is worth as God. 

Focus on God.

Keep Him in the center of your life.

Solomon concludes Ecclesiastes with:

8 "All is meaningless," says the Teacher, "utterly meaningless." 9 Because the Teacher was wise, he taught the people everything he knew. He collected proverbs and classified them. 10 Indeed, the Teacher taught the plain truth, and he did so in an interesting way. 

11 A wise teacher's words spur students to action and emphasize important truths. The collected sayings of the wise are like guidance from a shepherd. 

12 But, my child, be warned: There is no end of opinions ready to be expressed. Studying them can go on forever and become very exhausting! 

13 Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

A Vivid Fall

Sometimes I think that I forget why I love fall. It's the colors, the weather, and being able to live in the midst of it all. I can't believe that it's November already, this year is flying by!

I actually had a decent Monday today; is that possible? :) And I don't know why, but this year I love band! I actually practice! Does anybody else feel this way? ;)

And one last thing.. if you have ever seen the show Duck Dynasty (and if you haven't you better start watching it!) then you've probably seen Willie's daughter Sadie on the show. And as it turns out her and her friend Kolby have a channel on Youtube called The New Different, they talk about topics that all of us face in our lives and talk about it on a deeper level, pulling out bible verses to go along with it (it's basically a devotional).    Hmm.. guess I haven't been on here in a while! Sorry about that.. Since I've last been on cross country ended, marching band ended, we had our first snow, and the second quarter of school has begun. I'll start off by showing you some pictures that were taken the same day as those in the last post.

I like playing with the light! :)

Of course it had all melted by the next day so fall could continue it's dropping of leaves :)

The Leaves Have Turned!

     It seemed as if after the band competition was over this afternoon, and we drove through our town, fall had arrived. Seriously, I don't think the leaves had fallen this morning, but this afternoon lots were on the ground! Here's some proof:

Now I hope the weather doesn't go back to the upper 80's like it was this week and we'll be good!
