Haiti: Finishing our Help on the House

Sooo, these are pictures are from day 4 in Haiti, which is about the halfway point of the trip. This day we mainly focused on finishing our part in building the house.
 Gotta love 'em
 Double chins and all
Ready for another day of hard work
 And the sifting continues!

There were always Haitians around watching and helping
We helped build the walls up off of the floor that we had laid a couple days earlier
The guys mixing all that we had sifted with a concrete mix to make mortar

The bucket brigades also continued :)
Sarah helped this man sift what had already been sifted to make it even finer. I think they used this for the final covering on the wall, which they did when our team was gone.
They built the walls really fast, the house looked like this only a couple of hours into the workday

Some guys got fancy with the leaves after lunch
Waiting before heading back to the work site
Now this is a kumquat, and many of us found that we liked them on the trip
You would just crack it open and suck on it until it lost it's flavor and then spit it out. It tasted kind of like a grape.
Mitchell "helping" cut the bricks for the roof
 Almost done!
 Abby!
This is before we left that day, the next time we would come back would be for the dedication of the house (I'll have pictures of that in a later post) and during that time the men working on the house would add the final layer of stuff to the walls. And they didn't put the roof on while we were there, but that would get done too.
The sunset that night from the rooftop, too bad there were some trees in the way :)

By the way school for me starts tomorrow, so the posts will probably be less often, but I'll still try and post a couple times a week! When do you go back to school?
